Baseline Study

The objective of the Baseline Study is to compile relevant data based on the sectoral application of ICT products and services within the Nigerian economy that could serve as the basis for National ICT initiatives, plan projections and targets. The data from the study would be of tremendous benefit for investment planning, sales, forecasting and marketing as well as vendor and service provider selection.

The first report has been published. It is expected that this will be reviewed annually.
The study addresses such issues that are critical to national development like:
• The socio economic implementation and impact of ICT on the Nigerian economy;
• The national computer spread (compudensity);
• The national telephone spread (Teledensity);
• The national internet spread (Infodensity);
• The size and list of ICT establishments; and
• The information on the size of the ICT workforce;
• The salary structure; and
• The revenue polled by the ICT sector amongst others.

The survey covers the 36 states of the federation and the federal capital Territory, 22 distinguishable sectors while the other sectors that could not fit into the 22 categories were grouped as “Others”.

Analysis of IT potentials and capacity for attracting Foreign Direct Investment in Nigeria
The study would serve as a basis for future ICT and National Development plans.
The database to be setup is to provide ready answers to mostly ICT related questions that must be addressed.
